3. Teller & Teller Polling Station — Election Canvassing Software

3.1 How Teller Handles Data

Teller and Teller Polling Station are Android applications designed for use by political party branches for election canvassing and polling day operations. The following principles apply to all data processed by both applications:

All data stays on your device
• All data is stored locally on the user's own Android tablet
• No data is transmitted to Excalibur Web Support Limited
• No data is stored on our servers
• We have no access to any data entered into either application

3.2 Data Processed by Teller & Teller PS

The applications process the following categories of data, all of which remain on the Licensee's device:

  • Electoral register data supplied by the Electoral Officer — including voter names, addresses, elector numbers and postal voter status
  • Canvassing data entered by volunteers — including voter intentions, confirmed voted status and canvass records
  • Licence key and branch name — used to validate the software licence
  • Party configuration — the Licensee's party and opposition party settings

3.3 Data Controller Responsibilities

The Licensee (the political party branch using Teller or Teller Polling Station) is the Data Controller for all electoral register data and canvassing data processed using the software. The Licensee is responsible for ensuring their use complies with:

  • UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR)
  • Data Protection Act 2018
  • Guidance issued by the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)
  • Guidance issued by the Electoral Commission
Important note for Licensees. You are the Data Controller for all voter data processed using Teller and Teller Polling Station. Please ensure your use of electoral register data complies with your obligations under UK GDPR and any guidance from your Electoral Officer.

3.4 Data Security

We recommend that Licensees take the following steps to protect data held in Teller and Teller PS:

  • Use device screen locks and passwords to prevent unauthorised access to tablets
  • Keep both applications updated to the latest version
  • Export and securely store canvassing data at regular intervals
  • Delete sensitive data from devices when no longer required

4. Your Rights Under UK GDPR

Where we hold personal data about you (for example information submitted via a contact form), you have the following rights:

  • Right of access — request a copy of any personal data we hold
  • Right to rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
