When the phone is switched on, Dementia Dialer is the only thing on screen. No other apps, no notifications, no confusing menus — just large, clear photographs of the people the patient loves.

Each contact is shown as a large, clear face photograph. One, two, four or six contacts — the layout adjusts automatically.
Single tap to call
Tap a photograph and the call is made immediately. No menus, no confirmation screens, no extra steps.
Cannot be accidentally closed
The back button and home button are disabled. The patient can never accidentally exit to the normal Android screen.
Simple carer setup
Carers access the setup screen by tapping the corner 7 times. No password or PIN required. The patient never sees this screen.
No data collected
All contact information — names, numbers and photographs — is stored only on the device. Nothing is sent to any server.
Launches automatically
Set as the default home screen, the app opens every time the phone is switched on. The patient never needs to find or open it.

Ready to use in 5 minutes
A carer or family member sets up Dementia Dialer once. The patient never needs to touch the settings.
Download and install the app
Tap the Download button on this page from the Android phone. Tap the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to install.
Set as the default home screen
Press the Home button on the phone. Android will ask which app to use as the home screen — select Dementia Dialer and tap Always.
Add your contacts
Tap the top-right corner of the screen 7 times to open the carer setup screen, then add up to 6 contacts with photos and phone numbers.
Hand the phone to the patient
That's it. The patient will see only the photo calling screen. They're ready to call their loved ones.

Frequently asked questions
Is Dementia Dialer free?
Yes, completely free to download and use. There are no in-app purchases, subscriptions or hidden charges of any kind.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. Once installed and set up, Dementia Dialer works entirely without an internet connection. Calls are made using the phone's normal mobile calling service.
Can the patient accidentally exit the app?
No. The back button and home button are disabled while Dementia Dialer is running. The patient cannot accidentally exit to the normal Android home screen.
How many contacts can I add?
Up to 6 contacts. The display adjusts automatically — one contact fills the whole screen, up to 4 show in a 2×2 grid, and 5 or 6 scroll.
Can I use my own photos?
Yes. When adding a contact you can take a new photo with the camera, or choose an existing photo from the phone's gallery.
Do I need a PIN or password?
No PIN is required. Simply tap the top-right corner of the screen 7 times to access the carer setup screen.
Is my data safe?
All contact information — names, phone numbers and photographs — is stored only on the device. Nothing is uploaded to any server. We have no access to your data whatsoever.
Will it work on my phone?
Dementia Dialer works on any Android phone running Android 8.0 (released 2017) or later. It does not work on iPhones or iPads.
